Dr. Boyd Perkins serves as visiting associate professor of music education and interim director of instrumental studies at Augustana University. Previous to his service at Augustana, Perkins served as coordinator of fine arts in the Sioux Falls School District, as well as director of bands and chair of the department of music and theater at Northern State University (NSU) in Aberdeen, 南达科塔州.
A native of Brookings, 南达科塔州, Perkins earned a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Arts in conducting from the University of Iowa. 除了, he earned a master's in organizational leadership from the School of Business at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul in Minnesota and Bachelor of Science in music education with both an instrumental and vocal emphasis from 南达科塔州 State University. He holds a certification in distance education through the Online Learning Consortium.

Under Perkins’ leadership, the NSU Marching Wolves were the lone selection from 南达科塔州 in the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. Also, in 2013, the Northern State University Symphonic Band performed a 4-city concert tour of China. 除了, NSU bands under his leadership performed in Hawaii and the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. Each year of his tenure Perkins organized, led and conducted at least two annual regional NSU band tours of 南达科塔州, North Dakota and Minnesota. He was honored as the 南达科塔州 “Bandmaster of the Year” by Phi Beta Mu in 2013.
His research regarding the personal and business documents of Edwin Franko Goldman has been published in the Journal of Band Research.
